Hello ,

I was wondering how the fuses should be placed when I put in an extra battery in my trunk .

This is how I probably will be doing it , correct me if I'm wrong :
From the alternator it goes to the first battery in the engine compartment ( Optima Yellowtop ) , from there on it goes to a relais ( hochstromrelais ) and then directly to a fuse ( within the regulated distance ) , then the power cable goes to the trunk , there it first goes into a fuse and then to the 2 extra batteries ( Optima Yellowtop ) . These extra batteries are closer together than 45cm , so I don't need to put a fuse between them ( I'll be connecting them with a copper bar ) . From that copper bar I'll go with 25mm² powercable to the amp fuses which are 20cm from the battery . The amps are located more than 50 cm away from the fuses .

So now my question , should I fuse again close to the amps or is it right this way ? Keeping in mind that the car will be used for competition , would this be a correct layout for the powerwiring ?

Thanks in advance .

@ Barus : so no fuses should be placed closer to the amps ?

I forgot to mention that the amps don't have any external fuses of theire own ( 3* Brax X2000 ) .
Thanks for the fast reply .

The fuses in the engine compartment should be closer to the 1st bat. And the fuses should be before the relais. In the trunk it should be OK..
